Better than wellies...

I'm loving these Dubarry boots for a festival/summer rain look... cooler than wellies, and apparently Bruce Springsteen wore them to Glastonbury last year so worn by actual music legends!

And they're practical. They let your feet breathe and are totally waterproof. Sold.
Available from riftshoes.com from £245... (I never said they were cheap!)

Did you know what PPQ stands for!?

I didn't.
But it's quite cute - Pretty Personal Question.
So there you go.
You learn something new everyday.

And here's some catwalk shots from their newest collection... which I have to say is their best in quite a few seasons.
I used to massively heart PPQ then I lost interest a little, but they're back big-time! Exciting.
Also worth a look is the Pop by PPQ collection for Very... very nautically cute indeed.

River Islands Nautical Jacket

I was shooting a nautical fashion story on Fri - most of which was a bit more high-end fashion, designers like Milly, By Malene Birger, American Retro, Paul & Joe, Pringle etc... But I did use a few key High Street pieces, like this nautical scarf print jacket, £29.99 from River Island.
It's SO cool. Every girl on the shoot wanted to know where it was from and nobody could believe it was actually under £30 and NOT designer... GOOD BUY. Love it.
It's on the website now - www.riverisland.com

Glassworks

www.glassworks-studios.com is a a new online fashion and lifestyle boutique which has literally just launched.
It stocks some of the coolest, most stylish new designer collections (it's set up by a former buyer for Harvey Nicks so you know it's going to be good) some of which are exclusive in the UK to the site. Like Gryphon (for which Glassworks has the UK online exclusive), a New York label created by a former Vogue writer - Anna Wintour is already a fan, she wore a Gryhon trench in The September Issue. I'm IN LOVE with the silver sequin top (above), £235.
Other labels stocked include Olivia Rubin, Karen Walker, Loeffler Randall etc...
Not only that but it's a really cool website. Like.

I wanna be a rock chick

As you may know if you've
a) read my blog before or
b) met me
I desperately want to and aspire to be a cool rock chick. But I'm SO not actually in real life at all. And I like to think I like dirty rock boys. But I don't. They're not that clean and to cool for school and I just don't.
But sometimes I like to dress like I could be like that... so I Twenty8Twelve's heavily embellished, trashed look denim gilet. Over a rocky T-shirt, with leggings and f**ked up boots and I'm there. Love it.

Festival time

On 20th May H&M are launching a new collection - 'Fashion Against Aids' which is all about festival time... and 25% of sales will go to AIDS/HIV youth awareness charities.
This collection rocks. And the gorgeous campaign images feature one of my favourite models and style inspirations Lou Doillon alongside Lizzy Jagger. Cool.
My favourite looks are the tassle T-shirt dress, £19.99, cool loose fit trousers, £19.99 and how cool is this printed deck chair, and its only £7.99. There's even tents and sleeping bags... that's us sorted for Glasto.

Rupert Sanderson A/W 2010/11

Last night I went to see a preview of the new Autumn/Winter collection from my favourite shoe designer Rupert Sanderson. I just LOVE everything.
His shoes are amazing, I wrote a piece about the most amazing new Defender heels (for S/S) in Stylist mag last week but here's a sneak preview of what's to come in September (I've already pre-ordered the Moray ankle boots with the zip-up side (above) - SO SO BEAUTIFUL)... can. not.wait.

The Alexa

I am absolutely hearting my brand spanking new Mulberry Alexa bag in ink blue (which arrived TODAY ♥♥♥♥♥). Seriously, I'm going to wear it all summer and never take it off. It's the bag for S/S10.
Ps. Bag to watch out for in A/W... the Margaret. Trust me. Amazing. Watch this space for pics...

I want a maxi

I've NEVER worn a maxi dress before, never been interested. To long, feel like an 'older' lady in one, make me look pregnant, never know what shoes to wear, see other people looking rubbish in them a LOT in summer.
Anyway something's changed. Hopefully it's not just me getting older... I'm actually totally 'getting' the look and really want one. I know exactly what I want from seeing years of other people's errors.
  • I want it to pretty much touch the floor, I almost want the ends to get a bit ruined, adds to the whole look.
  • I want one that's printed. I like the plain colours but they show up lumps/bumps/vpl's etc.
  • I want a low-ish neck. More fitted at the top. Going out a bit more at the bottom.
  • I hate it when they go see-through at the legs. They're for holidays/beaches and look cheap worn as London daytime...
  • I want to wear it with a cool little jacket - blazer or leather, bit scuffed up. And flats of some sort. For some reason heels with a maxi slightly offends me. And I don't think I look cool enough to wear with sneakers though this may change.
  • And lastly, I LOVE the stripy jersey fitted ones. If I was a size 8. I'm not, so I won't go there...
These are some of my faves, also worth a note - Miss Selfridge have some very lovely bandeau style hippy dippy ones going instore for S/S10 to. And they're cheaper:
Blue floral print, £880, Erdem @ net-a-porter (IN MY DREAMS)
Beaded multi-colour ethnic print jersey dress, £203 @ net-a-porter (MIGHT ACTUALLY BUY)
Multi floral print dress, £74, Seafolly @ ASOS (SO cute and the models probably REALLY tall so will be floorlength on most people, woohoo)
Yellow printed silk dress, £650, Gomez Gracia @ ASOS (GORGEOUS, MIGHT GET IT FOR A SUMMER WEDDING ACTUALLY...)

Bring on the flip-flop weather...

Personally I still think it's a little to early for flip-flops... but apparently half of London doesn't as they were out in force yesterday.
I'm going to put in my usual yearly bulk order of Havaianas. I wear them literally everyday in summer and they're undoubtedly the best, coolest, comfiest flip-flops EVER. Fact. But they have to be the ones with the thin strap, just that bit more girly that the thicker one... in white, dark brown (favourites!), black, and I quite like a metallic (gold or bronze).
And I love seeing boys in the Brazilian flag ones... hot.

Wear lots

I love layering up skinny bracelets/jewellery... there's something so cool but a little hippy about it however you wear them.
So I adore Monica Vinader's Fiji bracelets, now available in new colours turquoise (tranquility) and black (energy - particularly feel like I need this one today!).
Mix and match them with vintage/high-street/holiday buys you pick up along your way...
From £78... www.monicavinader.com.

Tuesday 6 April 2010

It's started...

The countdown to summer.
Which means bikinis. And even scarier, cut out swimsuits. Eeeeeek.
Today is my first 'proper' day of being good... Eating healthy, gymming it later, never eating chocolate cake/chocolates/anything unhealthy ever again.
I will look like Elle 'the body' on the beach this year.
And then I'll go to Melissa Odabash.
This AMAZING statement purple 'Marakech' number is my new inspiration in the pursuit of thinness.
Wow-factor swimwear.
