Versace SS12 campaign featuring Gisele

Now I haven't updated my blog for AGES #bloggerfail
But when I saw these babies land in my inbox WOW I just had to share...

This is the Versace SS12 ad campaign shot by Mert & Marcus featuring Gisele. The mens pics are also AMAZING featuring Ryan Barrett but lets focus on the ladies for now. I'm in love with the lighting. Beautiful.

Anyways... I will be blogging LOTS again in the New Year and apologies for my slackness the last few months (been a busy stylist).

Have a fab Christmas everyone!

Boots Boots Boots

Totally forgot to put this page up that I did in last weeks Stylist magazine.
The seasons best boots. My faves are the Louboutin studded tough luxe boots. Want.

Snakes. Not ladders.

I've always been very loyal to the leopard when it comes to animal prints but I'm totally slithering over to the dark side this season. It's weird, six months ago I'd have immediately thought snake print = tacky, cheap, bit Corrie/E'nders barmaid.

Now I CANNOT get enough of it.

I purchased two more snake print pieces today. (When I'm supposed to be saving, damn. It's like they spoke to me in parseltongue....) A really cool, jersey dress (only £14.99!!!! Biggest Bargain Ever) and a beautiful blouse with leather details both from H&M. Pics to come... Snake print is to my A/W wardrobe what a block colour was to S/S. But better because after the seasons over it'll be a 'classic'! Whoop

Anyway, it was the Chloe catwalk that first got me hooked...

Some other snake pieces I have my eye on.... but I have to say H&M and Zara have THE best selection so you really don't have to get yourself into debt for this one.

Prada The Movie

I wonder if from now on every big fashion house will create a movie to go alongside their ad campaign? I hope so. I love watching them. I think they should actually start filming proper 60 minute action movies of them - how amazing would that be?

I love the Prada one (above) for A/W shot by Steven Meisel - set in a dreamlike playroom of fabulous bags and accessories in pretty sherbet colours, the models are perfect ivory-skinned dolls. I think this sentence from the press release sums it up in a really beautiful way:
'It’s a dressing room of contemporary desire disguised as a playroom of childhood dreams.'
Ahh. Very Lula magazine and lovely. Now watch it.

Finders Keepers

Don't you love that name - Finders Keepers. Very good.

Finders Keepers is the newest fast fashion label to arrive in the UK - the Australian label's first collection for A/W11 arrives at Harvey Nichols imminently and refreshes with a new collection every single month. Now that's fast fashion.

The clothes have a cool, unique design with a kind of fresh, modern vintage feel. And very 'models own' I feel. Which is a good thing. I like. They also have pretty names like 'Shining Star Maxi' and 'Pretty Thing'. The first collection is quite romantic - handcrafted details, oversized cable knits and the labels trademark pretty dresses - hello red carpet!
See my fave pieces from the lookbook above...

Prices start at £50 - £200. fyi.

guilt trip + WEDDING DRESSES

I'm having a major guilt trip right now at not having blogged for AGES. Slap on the wrists.
But I'm afraid actual life and real work took over for a time (working, shooting, vacation and a bit of wedding planning).

Anyway, I'm back! Hi.

I'll get back on to the more serious business of fash-wan tomorrow but today I have to tell you about Elizabeth Avey. Elizabeth is the owner of Elizabeth Avey Bridal Boutique specialising in vintage wedding dresses. Which are all amazing. I first visited a year ago with my friend Sam when she was wedding dress shopping - and she bought her amazing dress from her (see wedding pic above - definitely the coolest bride I have ever seen).

And, coincidentally, I also bought my wedding dress for the big day next May from her on Friday (squeals with excitement!). But I can't tell you what it's like, obvs.

The shop is literally like a breath of fresh air from all the full on but so not personable bridal shops/designers. And Elizabeth is so enthusiastic and obviously loves what she does so much that it makes wedding dress shopping the beautiful, perfect, special day it should be!
She stocks genuine, beautiful, well cared for dresses from the 20s to the 70s at, I think, really reasonable prices. One-offs, couture, the lot.

So ladies if you're tying the knot, make an appointment and play dress up. You'll love it.

Which Pixie do you prefer?

So Dolce & Gabbana have finally joined Net A Porter and the celebs were out in force to celebrate with a free champers...

I LOVE the Dolce & Gabbana selection on the site. But my most interesting internal debate has been which Pixie looked best at the party? Geldoff or Lott? They're kind of almost like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen... Lott (Ashley) looks somewhat healthier - glowing, glossy... and Geldof (MK) a little cooler but not so healthy, more rough around the edges...

My conclusion: Lott's glow. Geldof's style.

I want the star in the picture in my life/house/wedding!?

My fave piece from the collection: a bargain at just £2,690!

I did a quick 'stylist' chat with the lovely people at La Senza for their new blog about all things fashion and celeb. Check it out...

Chanel Couture

The Chanel Couture show is probably my most favourite fashion event ever.
As I've probably said before if I could I'd dress head-toe-toe in it everyday (or just one day actually) I would. And I'd do my hair and make up like Helen in Bridesmaids! (I saw it last night and it is definitely the best film EVER, you have to see.) Fabulous.

Here's my highlights...

Daphne Guinness - one lady who actually can afford to wear Chanel everyday...

Loving Alexa's hair at the mo...

Lace eye masks - possible wedding idea!???

My two fave looks...

I NEED some black leather gloves.

Hailee Steinfeld Miu Miu

There's been a bit of a furore over amazingly cool 14 year old actress Hailee Steinfeld being cast as the new 'Miu Miu girl'. Yeah she's 14. But it's not like she's got her kit off! She's wearing a beautiful dress and those sparkly shoes are a dream - the girl couldn't be happier. She doesn't even have a face load of make up one, she looks natural, pretty and just damn cool.

I reckon all those who are against it are just well jel to be honest... I know I am! She's my new style icon. And she's 14. Not. Fair.

Quick off the mark...

Love that the new Vogue has 'meet Mrs Jamie Hince' as a coverline literally 3 days after the ceremony. Fast work. I can not wait for the new issue to pop through my letterbox...

The glove of dreams

This is The Glove.

A one-off creation collaborated on by (I think Gaga's inspiration) Daphne Guinness and jeweller Shaun Leane which has spent 5 years in the making.

It was made using more than a thousand grams of 18ct white gold, set with over 5000 white pavé diamonds and combines armoury with the delicate appearance of an evening glove.

How bloody beautiful?

Nude leather

Hello, beautiful soft buttery nude leather jacket.

I had to show you this by Simone, £950 from Oxygen Boutique because it'd bloody beautiful. I used it in a shoot last week and it was definitely the most lusted after item. Wear it with head to toe neutrals or over a bright block colour.

You have to see this MTV video for the House Of Holland Resort SS12 collection - shot by Mariano Vivanco it's amazing.

New Prada Womens campaign

Okay so I posted the new Winter Prada mens campaign a few days ago so I thought it only fair I show you the womens version. I love it. Even more than the mens one. How beautiful are the colours? Pictures by Steven Meisel. I LOVE LOVE LOVE.

I'm in love with a bag

I had to show off my new bag of joy! The Christopher Kane laser-cut leather clutch in neon orange which has made me a very happy girl today. I it forever and will probably use it at every occasion I'm attending this year. So those who know me will prob be seeing a lot of it. Soz.

Versace + H&M

One word. Amazingness.

The Versace/H&M collection will be for A/W11 be available from (and probably only on) 17th November online and instore (I SO hope I get something this time - I re-freshed my laptop about a million times from 6am to try and buy one of the Lanvin dresses and still couldn't get anything!). This collection is guaranteed to be amazing - it's being designed by Donatella herself - how glam does she look in this vid all about the new collaboration...

Tobey Maguire new face of Prada

When I first heard that Tobey Maguire was the star of Prada's menswear campaign for A/W11-12 I though RANDOM. Then I looked at pics and thought HOT, COOL, LIKE IT.

I just think of him as playing a slightly crap Spiderman... But next year he's going to be in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsy which is definitely going to be amazing; and will probably turn him into a full on grown up sex symbol. And these pics will definitely help. Photographed by David Sims in NY, I love the cinematic, dark, slightly sinister, sexy but intellectual feel. He looks a bit like a sexy 70s librarian James Bond no?

OMFG Toni Terry

What WAS she thinking? Winner of the most hideous swimwear of the year award... and HOW SET UP ARE THESE PICS. Shocking.

BAGS OF FUN

Allow me to introduce you to the new Limited Edition Prada croc bags...
Only available at Harrods and price on request (which means massively expensive, but hey a girl can dream) these two beauties are available in a limited palette, lined in nappa leather and come with an adorable detachable mini clutch. Each bag features a metal code number - so they really are properly limited.
Get your name down now if you want - they'll be instore from the end of June.

And if anyone wants ideas for engagement presents... I'm sure my fiancé would love them too!

Tuesday 7 June 2011

Okay, I'm convinced. Here's the rock!

I'm engaged!

Sorry for the lackage of posts over the last few days but I'm now ENGAGED. Argh. I'm actually going to get married (squealing). And be a bride (more squealing). So I haven't really had time to do anything apart from talk about that for the last few days.

My ring is AMAZING. And I thought about posting a pic of it on here and then thought is that weird?! Maybe I will soon... not sure about the etiquette of posting a pic of your engagement ring on your blog?

I also promise that I will not turn my blog into a one of a wedding obsessed bride-zilla. I'll hopefully write about that elsewhere... It will remain primarily a fashion blog. I might do the odd bridal related post but only if something is exceptionally cool and I think you'll be interested even if you don't have wedding bells ringing in your ears...

Just give me one more day to calm myself down (and stare at my ring! Ahhhh) and I'll be back to normal! x

Surely Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has to be the hottest lady on the planet by now... she's knocking out those covers...

The perfect plimsoll

I've just got back from a little shopping mission - to find the perfect white sneaker.
I haven't owned a pair of sneakers for ages. I threw my last pair of Converse out well over a year ago and I haven't massively missed them, until now.
I think it was the Alexa Chung Superga ads that did it. I love them. How cute does Alexa look in the pic - although note she isn't actually wearing them...

Anyway I headed to Schuh - the best place for a mission of this nature - and tried Converse which I'm just not that into anymore. I have no explanation as to why, it just wasn't working. Then I tried Superga, the new fashion people fave but I can't get over the high rubber sole. P.E. I like them on other people. Mainly on Alexa. And still might be tempted when the pale pink ones come instore. Then I tried Keds and they're just a bit nothing really aren't they - made my feet look a bit too childlike.

So I tried Vans. I'm totally not a Vans girl but these babies (above) are the perfect plimsoll. Simple, not to bright white, discreet brand name and just really cool and cute in the right way. And £35.

So I officially crown them The Perfect Plimsoll. Congrats Vans.
