Jaeger sale!!!

Okay so here's a more positive post... The Jaeger end of season sale starts this Monday, 6th June.

I normally have a bit of a freak out at sale time and can't even walk into a shop but this time I've decided to embrace the big S, well try to anyway.

Partly because I'm bored of my wardrobe and just got paid and partly because I'm going to IBIZA for the first time ever this year and therefore must have an 'Ibiza wardrobe' too. This will hopefully comprise of Melissa Odabash kaftans, Pistol Panties bikinis, some lovely Antik Batik bits and massive new fabulous sunglasses from I don't even know where yet - all purchased in the sales. Hmm. Will let you know how that goes... have already spotted a few Melissa pieces on The Outnet. But not in my size. Doh. But they might be in yours so check 'em out.

Anyway, the Jaeger sale starts Monday, and others will follow. Good purchases would be the so cute ric rac stripe dress down to £135 from £199 and the Chanel eqsue quilted shoulder bag now £99 from £199.

Happy shopping!

Not a nice post - sorry.

I don't usually like to stick up a not nice post but I felt I had to show you this pic of Katie Weissel/Vogel/Lola whatever she wants to call herself now... Just because it sums up everything I can't stand. Not so much Katie herself but:

1) FOOTBALL SHIRTS. Can. not. stand. these. Just about acceptable when worn by a professional footballer on a pitch (and yes I know she is at Soccer Six so is maybe playing football/has to wear it) but still I really detest them. I once went on a date with a boy who turned up wearing a Liverpool shirt and IT WAS BAD.

2) TRY HARDS. So she'll wear the football shirt but she won't wear the boots/trainers. Which I'd have thought were the more essential of the 'look'. So she's in DMs. And a headscarf. And sunglasses. Trying to hard love...

3) ATTENTION SEEKERS. See 2).

And yeah maybe 4) would be Katie herself. Soz. Will be more positive with next post I promise

This is why I need a small dog.

Moschino have created a capsule collection of darling pet accessories - with heart and bows and cute things like that on. But they're still cool and leather, not to feminine for little boy pups.
I love the bow collar - very reasonable at £64 I think you'll agree, and the heart stud brown leather leash is £96.
The range is available exclusively on yoox.com and all of the proceeds go to the Dog Search Foundation. That's what we like to hear.

Did Cheryl's LA wardrobe get her the sack?

Cheryl was a bit of a style icon when she left the UK (in a wag-ish way). 2009 she style was hot. It went slightly downhill last year - a bit back to her roots in glitzy glam dresses... less directional, not as cool designers etc...

Then she went to LA and WTF happened!? Did they make her use a new style team?! MASSIVE blown out hair in a not good way. Colour blocking taken to the extreme in the most unflattering shapes (because she's no longer a stick -which is a good thing - but she can't carry off those purple flares - she's not got a long lean model bod), wide leg jeans and a red leather jacket which looked like it was off a market stall - even thought it was probably ££££, or maybe it's just the way she wore it? And the polka dot dress, cute. But with the wedges it made her look stumpy - she should have gone for a cute classic black peeptoe Louboutin or something... so, did her wardrobe get her the sack?!

Well hopefully Cheryl will leave LA and her shocking LA style and come back to the UK, head held high, with a new amazingly cool wardrobe and re-join the UK X Factor. Welcome back Chezza!

Shoes glorious shoes

More shoes.
I think I'm having a shoe week - I keep seeing beautiful heels so fabulously bright, cool and high that I'll obviously fall over a lot whilst wearing but I can't help but want in my life...

One of my favourite London boutiques - Oxygen on Eastcastle Street (www.oxygenboutique.com) have just had a fresh delivery of amazing platforms and wedges from Jeffrey Campbell. I am literally in with the leopard print Lita heel £125. Guaranteed to make any outfit look cool.
The pink suede Foxy's are £105 and the darling, will go with anything, black Be Well wedges are £125.
Hope you like!

Nicola Roberts new shoes!

So apparently Girls Aloud lady turned fashionista Nicola Roberts has been designing some AMAZING shoes to wear when she launches herself as an uber cool solo star and approached young Brit shoe designer Atalanta Weller to collaborate with. That particular top secret shoe won't be available to buy BUT I always get v excited when I hear about a fabulous new shoe person so decided to have a look at the rest of Atlanta's collection. AND I LOVE IT!

The gladiator sandals are perfection (and I don't usually like a gladiator sandal!). The wedges are super high and somehow statuesque yet not to glam - wearable with everything I think. And I love the heels, pretty and feminine, super-high without being at ALL slaggy. Totally chic and now. Have a look at the rest of the collection on the designers website www.atalantaweller.com. And buy it in on www.youngbritishdesigners.com.

20% of AA swimwear! Yeah baby...

I know this makes 2 posts about American Apparel in a week but what can I say, I'm a fan.
And I needed to make you all aware that it's 20% off all swimwear from now until May 29th!

Pretty pictures

How lovely is the new Radley imagery? Totally dreamy, I just had to out it out there...

And the s/s collection is full of gorge bright colour pop bags and shoes (you should definitely check out the shoes - my favourites are the little lime Charlton boots). Fun but still sticking to the chic, sophisticated Radley style.

If you use a blackberry...

I don't and I'm gutted about that right now. Because if I did I'd be dressing it up in a leopard print Alexander McQueen blackberry case immediately. From £125 coming soon...

Dear McQueen accessories designers, please can you design one for the Iphone? Thanks!

Kiki McDonough

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to a lovely evening at Kiki McDonough just off Sloane Square to view the new collections. SO MANY PRETTY JEWELLS!
I LOVE the classic crystal pendants (pic above) from the OPERA collection - just £3,500.00. Eek. But Ooohhh... at least I can use them in shoots. Whoop.

Don't fret there are some fabulous pieces available for less than £500 - slightly more affordable for the masses. You should check it out www.kiki.co.uk.
(Also, secret for you, they don't broadcast it but the Middleton sisters have been fans of Kiki's deisgns for years, sssshhhh)

Anyway it was a fab evening and we all had our nails painted by uber glam beauty company Cosmetics à la Carte. And palms read. Apparently I'm totally psychic. Will definitely be doing the lottery from now on. Then I can buy myself some fab jewells...

Nailed

I don't normally write about anything beauty-wise on here but I just love the pic of American Apparel's new nail lacquers to be honest. So here they are, da dah!

SO right for now - fair enough the green is only for the brave but the yellow and the neon orange. Wow. Quite tempted to do my toes all different colours like I did when I was 10 years old. It's a cute look - I Just need a tan to wear them with...

£7 each at American Apparel. Or 3 for £17.

If you only buy one thing today...

Make it a necklace/work of neck art from Holly Fulton.
I'm getting more and more into fabulous jewellery and Holly Fultons jewellery (and accessories) are real show-stoppers. Made from wood and plastic/plexi glass with crystal detailing and a silver chain these beauties will transform the dullest of looks. I'm thinking with a black vest or a simple column style black, white or palest oyster pink maxi dress - amazing.
Available now at www.farfetch.com

(Silver £349, black £434 - I never said they were cheap!)

Spring Dressing Sorted

It's the change of seasons. Holidays are approaching and we (the English) I find tend to freak out right around NOW. We literally have no idea what to wear when that big round ball of yellow first appears in the sky.

One day last week I witnessed the following looks on the same bus at the same time:

Bare pasty white skin in strapless summer dress

Winter coat and shearling boots

Strapless dress with leggings and pumps

Printed shorts and a flip-flop

Fur coat and tights

One half were sweating droplets and the others had to wear shades to shield the glare of the sun reflecting off their pasty white bodies. So unless there was a dramatic change of weather between Wapping and Bond Street I’m getting major ‘confused’ signals.

So as a Fashion Stylist and Editor I thought it only right that I help by offering my services in some way… and advising on what to wear for the Spring - Summer transitional season. So here's some tips:

First of all, ditch (or wrap carefully and store at the back of your wardrobe) the shearling boots, fur jackets (including any with a fur collar, and yes definitely your aviator), oversized chunky knitwear. These are too winter and if you wear them people will think you have something to hide (flaky skin, or a bit of a fat arm). Oh and god please banish your Uggs from sight too.

Now, you need to get yourself summer ready before you dare take a step out that door. This means exfoliate, body buff, slap on a bit of fake tan (subtle style, not TOWIE), shave your legs and for god’s sake get a pedicure. What is it with people who pay no attention to their feet? I say they can’t be trusted.

Now… do you really still need an opaque tight in this weather? I think not. Only in exceptional circumstances (if it’s a completely cloudy, rainy day and you’re wearing them with an otherwise too short denim hotpant or floral tea dress you can go ahead with pleasure). But if you’re wearing a knee length or below skirt, cropped trouser or cool short dress then dare to bare – New Yorkers do it and don’t complain and if your legs are looking buff no problem. If you’re legs are your downfall go for a nude tight, not an M&S Nora Batty number but something a little sexier – say a La Perla nude stocking, no one can say that’s not sexy.

If you need a cover up (and lets face it it is England so you probably do) a cool little leather jacket, lightweight blazer, extra points if it’s in a bold block colour, or neutral (preferably cashmere) cardigan will surfice perfectly. A light knit sweater will do too. And if you need it add a scarf.

As for a trouser, my top tip at the moment is roll it up by 2 inches. I don’t care what trouser it is – a bright chino, beige pant or worn jeans, roll it up, not to neatly and you’ve instantly update your look from Winter. Wear with any shoe but just that slip of ankle says ‘hello Spring’.

Shoe-wise I’m all for a Havaiana (however there is a time and a place blah blah, unfortunately) but only when the sun is properly out, full on shining. Otherwise a smart sandal is required – something a bit more structured. Definitely not a gladiator (I think we had enough of those last summer) and don’t overkill the embellishment either. Keep it simple but chic. A ballet pump or Superga sneaker are also good options and I’d never say no to an ankle boot but nothing higher. And what’s with everyone wearing Hunters’ as a summer shoe. For festivals yes, appropriate. For daywear on the tube and then strolling down Oxford Street, nada.

My personal fail-safe Spring look is a maxi dress or skirt. Bold, cool, on-trend but SO practical it almost seems wrong because it’s so easy… Zara and H&M have some amazing ones in at the moment (I’m purchased 2 in the last week, oops). From jersey floral dresses (the lust have French label Sandro also have a black floral slightly hippy but rocky one I need in my life) to block colour Jil Sander-esque skirts, also available at Zara. With a sandal, works, with a sneaker, works, with a flat ankle boot, works.

See easy. Spring dressing. Done.

Nina Naustdal

A new Queen of Glam has arrived! Norwegian Couture designer Nina Naustdal launched her first London shop on Walton Street on Thursday night and it was FULL ON LUXE GLAMOUR.
I couldn't stop staring at the designers dress (one of her own numbers, obvs) which was completely covered in crystals and worth £50,000! Pic above. I got up close with her at the private dinner at Annabels afterwards and it was the sparkliest dress I have ever seen. Want!

Of course there was celeb attendance (my favourite sighting was Sinitta who accessorised with crutches and sparkly Fit Flops), IT girls galore and star of the show Emma Rigby (ex Hollyoaks, now film star, congrats on that one lady!).

All of Nina's gowns are FABULOUS. High octane glam, jewell colours, draped Italian silks, dramatic shapes and covered in crystals and precious stones. Each piece is a work of art. You don't need any other jewellery with these babies. I think we'll be seeing a lot of Nina's work on the red carpets over the next few months... looking forward to it.

MET BALL: BEST DRESSED

Last night was the Costume Institute Gala (MET BALL) aka the BIG fashion event in NY hosted by Anna Wintour herself (who wore Chanel). The event was this year celebrating the work and life of Alexander McQueen.
All the most stylist celebs were out in their best frocks - many in McQueen (SJP, Gisele, Daphne Guinness) to pay their respects and guest of honor was Sarah Burton - great weekend for her then!!
Here's my best dressed:

SJP looked STUNNING! The best I've seen her look for AGES. In McQueen (obvs). She reminded us all why she's a style icon.

Gwyneth is usually hit and miss for me but recently she's been hit hit hit!! Love this Stella McCartney number, and those shoes are beauts!

Gisele Bundchen looking like a fierce goddess in McQueen

I LOVE Diane Krugers Jason Wu thigh split dress - proper old Hollywood glam with SEX!

You've got to love Queen of Fashion Daphne Guinness - she always looks like the coolest ever fairytale character. She of course wore MqQueen head to toe for the occasion.

I though Kristen Stewart looked cool in her Proenza Schouler graphic print gown. I quite like that it wasn't too fitted - she rocked it.

New lady on the block - 15 year old Hailee Steinfeld. She was totally my best-dressed of the night in custom lace Stella McCartney. Couldn't have styled it better myself!
